Savory Turkey Cranberry Apple Braid

- 1 lb. 93% Lean Ground Turkey
- 1 granny smith apple, peeled and diced
- 1 can whole cranberry sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
- 8 oz. brie cheese, rind removed
- 3 slices of bacon, cooked and diced
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten

Step 1Preheat oven to 400°F and remove puff pastry from freezer to thaw.
Step 2In a medium bowl, mix cranberry sauce, apples and cinnamon. Set aside.
Step 3Cook bacon over medium-high heat in a large pan. Remove cooked bacon, set aside to cool.
Step 4In the same pan, heat olive oil and add garlic. Stir for a few minutes.
Step 5Stir in rosemary, thyme and crumbled bacon then turn off the heat.
Step 6Add the ground turkey to pan, sprinkle with salt, chipotle pepper and stir all ingredients together. Cook until ground turkey is lightly browned.
Step 7Slice the cheese.
Step 8On a parchment lined baking sheet, roll out a puff pastry.
Step 9Spoon half of the turkey mixture in the middle of the puff pastry. Form into a rectangular loaf.
Step 10Cover the loaf with several slices of cheese.
Step 11Cover the cheese with 2-3 spoonfuls of the cranberry and apple sauce.
Step 12Cut strips along the edges of the dough. Make as many cuts along the sides as you want, just make sure to have the same amount on each side.
Step 13After cutting 6-8 strips of dough on the sides, you are ready to braid.
Step 14Fold the top and the bottom ends over the turkey, then cross the side strips over each other to make the braid.
Step 15Repeat with the second puff pastry.
Step 16Make an egg wash with one beaten egg and a splash of cool water.
Step 17Brush each pastry with the egg wash.
Step 18Bake for 25-30 minutes until the braid is golden brown.
Step 19Use a food thermometer to make sure the turkey is 165°F before eating.
Step 20Let set for at least 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
