Grilled Italian-Style Turkey Sausage with Quick Italian-Style Pickled Red Onions & Tangy Mustard Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 package Shady Brook Farms® Lean Turkey Sausage Links – Sweet Italian
- OR 1 package Shady Brook Farms® Lean Turkey Sausage Links – Hot Italian
- 6 sub rolls or brat buns
- Vegetable oil, for rubbing on grill grates
- Quick Italian-Style Pickled Red Onions (recipe below)
- Tangy Mustard Sauce (recipe below)
Quick Italian-Style Pickled Red Onions
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced into half moons
- ½ cup warm water
- ½ cup white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 Tablespoon white sugar
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper chili flakes
- ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
Tangy Mustard Sauce
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons spicy brown mustard
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ⅛ teaspoon chili powder
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder

Step 1
Preheat outdoor gas or charcoal grill to 550°F and lightly oil the grates. -
Step 2
Place the turkey sausages on the grill and cook for 5 to 7 ½ minutes then flip. Cook until they reach a minimum internal temperature of 165° F (approximately 5 to 7 ½ additional minutes). Use a meat thermometer to confirm internal temperature. -
Step 3
While sausages are cooking, heat the buns in the oven or on the grill (optional). -
Step 4
When sausages are done cooking, place in buns, top with Quick Italian-Style Pickled Red Onions and Tangy Mustard Sauce. Serve and enjoy! -

Quick Italian-Style Pickled Red Onions: Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl, cover and let sit for at least 30 minutes. Top the grilled sausage with desired amount of onions and serve. -
Step 6
Tangy Mustard Sauce: Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Spread 1 Tablespoon of sauce, or desired amount, onto the bun, top with grilled sausage, and serve.
