Lemon Garlic Orecchiette Pasta with Italian-Style Turkey Sausage and Broccoli Rabe

Note: This recipe is Dairy-Free if the optional parmesan is not added.

Ingredients

  • Step 1

    Heat a large skillet to medium heat, add in 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and the sausages. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently until nicely browned and the sausages reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Step 2

    Remove sausages and cut each sausage into 8 slices of equal size.
  • Step 3

    Using the same skillet at medium heat, add 2 more Tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, broccoli rabe, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Cook and stir occasionally for 3-5 minutes until the broccoli rabe softens a bit. Add in the sausage slices, cooked pasta, reserved pasta water, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Gently stir to combine and cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes. If desired, top the pasta with shaved parmesan cheese. Serve and enjoy!
